On October 5, 2026, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) updated one scoring factor in the expression of interest (EOI) system of the Ontario Workforce Priority stream.

What changed

Under the "Canadian work experience: earnings history" factor, registrants who earned $80,000 or more in a single year within the past 5 years now receive 10 points. The earnings must be verified by a Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Notice of Assessment.

Who is affected

Everyone registered in the stream's EOI system. Ontario applied the change automatically to all existing EOIs: registrants don't need to do anything or log in to the OINP e-Filing Portal for their score to update.

Background

The Ontario Workforce Priority stream's EOI portal opened on August 4, 2026, with pathways for job offers in all NOC TEER categories and for self-employed physicians. A higher score does not guarantee an invitation: Ontario decides whom it invites, and IRCC makes the final decision on permanent residence.
