About the NSNP

The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) nominates workers, graduates and entrepreneurs for permanent residence. After nomination, you apply to IRCC, which makes the final decision. Nova Scotia also takes part in the federal Atlantic Immigration Program.

Current streams (as of 2026-10-10)

Stream Status
Nova Scotia Graduate Open, limited to 4 NOC codes
Skilled Worker Open, some sectors paused
Nova Scotia: Express Entry (enhanced nomination) Open
Entrepreneur Open, by invitation

Applications in accommodation and food services are paused. Check the Nova Scotia Graduate page for its 4 eligible NOC codes.

How selection works

  • EOI for every stream. Since 2025-11-28, every NSNP stream uses an expression of interest (EOI). You can apply only if Nova Scotia selects your EOI. The province publishes its selection approach.
  • EOI validity. From 2026-05-01, an EOI stays valid for 12 months.
  • Fees from 2026-09-01: $1,000 for worker streams and $2,000 for the Entrepreneur stream.

The 2026 allocation

Nova Scotia's NSNP allocation is 2,344 for 2026, down from 3,369 in 2025. Its Atlantic Immigration Program allocation is 1,365 (1,240 in 2025).

Recent changes

  • 2026-09-01: new application fees ($1,000 workers, $2,000 entrepreneurs).
  • 2026-05-01: EOIs valid for 12 months.
  • 2026-02-18: 10 streams consolidated into the 4 streams above. Earlier stream names no longer apply.
  • 2025-11-28: EOI model introduced for all streams.
